FEATHERSTONE historian Tony Lumb has made a final appeal for names of the town's war dead to be included on a new memorial.
Mr Lumb wants townsfolk to come forward before the end of February with names of any members of the forces they think should be included on a new war memorial due to be unveiled in June.
He is particularly looking for names of those who died in World War Two and other conflicts since then.
Mr Lumb, of Albert Street, Featherstone, said: "We don't want to miss anybody, the deadline for names is the end of February and by then I'm hoping we can get the name plates made and engraved."
Mr Lumb says that to comply with War Graves Commission rules, all the names have to be of members of the armed forces.
He added: "There is plenty of information about those who fought in World War One, but the information is not as comprehensive for those who died in World War Two."
The new war memorial, on Station Lane, will commemorate men from Featherstone, Purston, Aketon, Snydale, Streethouse and Loscoe.
Mr Lumb, who has been helping plan the memorial, wrote a book 'A Roll of Honour', as a tribute to the brave men from the area. After spending the last 20 years carrying out painstaking research, he recorded names, ranks and regiments and uncovered other background information.
Work on the new memorial starts in March and it is due to be officially opened in June.
