FIRE safety was on the timetable for youngsters at Ackworth School's junior department in a special visit.
David Berry, a schools' officer for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, talked about the job of a firefighter and showed children how to escape from blazes using a fire plan when he visited Coram House.

Mary Wilson, headteacher of Coram House, said: "David told the children how important it is to have a working smoke detector and how to test it.

"He also answered lots of interesting questions posed by the children.

"After assembly he read a story about fire safety, the children enjoyed a very informative morning."
