DOCTORS dug into their own pockets to help fund the refurbishment of their cramped Ackworth surgery.
The five partners at College Lane Surgery, Barnsley Road, ploughed their cash into the work that began a year ago to renovate and expand the building.
The cramped premises have now been transformed into a state of the art health centre with 15 consulting rooms, facilities for training and minor surgery and a new IT system.
Dr Ivan Hanney, senior partner, said: "Patients and staff now benefit from spacious, purpose-built premises with a stunning glass entrance and large comfortable waiting room. And the new building also complements the development of College Lane Surgery as a teaching practice."
District nurses and health visitors have moved into the new building from Ackworth Health Centre next door, which has been demolished and turned into a car park.
