THE spectacular £60m Xscape leisure complex is set to open in just four weeks - making Castleford the entertainment capital of the north.
The development - creating 800 new jobs - will have a huge impact on the region's economy when it opens its doors to the public on Friday September 26.
PY Gerbeau, chief executive of Xscape told the Express: "Xscape is a fantastic concept which I am very excited to bring to Yorkshire."
"Since we started building on the Castleford site we have been overwhelmed by the huge public interest and attention," added the former Millennium Dome and Euro Disney chief.
The country's only other Xscape complex in Milton Keynes has been a massive success, attracting almost 6.5million visitors this year.
The 38metre high building - on the site of the former Glass Houghton Colliery - dominates the skyline. Visitors are expected to travel from all over the north to the innovative development that will house a 175 metre long real snow ski slope and an ice climbing wall - the first of its kind in the world.
The complex will also include a 14-screen cinema, 20-lane bowling alley, rock climbing walls, assault course, indoor and outdoor skate parks, bars, clubs, restaurants and shops.
Mr Gerbeau added: "Our 1,500 tonnes of real snow will ensure year-round fun for skiers, boarders and bladers - and that's only part of it. Combined with all the other experiences Xscape will create a fantastic family day out."
Seven million people live within an hour's drive of the leisure complex, built next to the popular Freeport shopping village.
