Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel announced at Bicester Heritage

First, the bad news: the Classic & Sports Car Show that until now has been attracting big crowds to Alexandra Palace in north London is no more.

Now, the brilliant news, which is that it’s moving to Bicester Heritage and expanding to take in classics of both road and air.

The first Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel will be next June (2018). It will combine the excitement of the Classic & Sports Car magazine’s Ally Pally car show with Bicester’s equally popular Flywheel Festival to deliver the best of historic automotive and aviation heritage in one amazing event.

Last year, £30 million worth of classics filled Alexandra Palace for Haymarket Media Group’s Classic & Sports Car Show. The move to Bicester Heritage – arguably the best-preserved World War II RAF bomber station in the UK, and now seen as a national hub for historic motoring culture – will allow this show to grow.

The popularity of aviation displays at car events like the Goodwood Revival demonstrates a clear overlap in the enthusiast following for the two genres. The new event will feature land and air demonstrations alongside hundreds of cars as displayed from private owners, collectors, and dealers.

“Bicester Heritage is about the future of the past, and has at its heart a vision to secure a robust and dynamic future for historic motoring for everyone who enjoys historic vehicles,” said Daniel Geoghegan, Bicester Heritage’s managing director.

“Partnering with Haymarket, and building on our established relationship with Historic Promotions through Flywheel, provides a wonderful platform for us to create a new way to bring thousands of enthusiasts together in the enjoyment of historic vehicles.”

Classic & Sports Car’s head of content Alastair Clements was “thrilled” to be joining forces with the Flywheel event. “We look forward to welcoming readers and enthusiasts from across the UK and Europe to the fabulous Bicester Heritage for what promises to be a highlight of next summer for classic fans.”
