INTREPID explorers from Castleford Sea Cadets have been crowned the champions of a regional training competition.
Seafaring recruits’ tracking, map or compass skills, first aid training and culinary prowess were assessed at the West Yorkshire District Exped training competition.

Group commanding officer Ann Temple said: “Our cadets competed against eight other squads in the contest at Barnsley.

“It was the first time in a long while that the Castleford unit had entered the competition and we were thrilled to take first place.

“Able cadet Joseph Brownridge won best team leader and the team will now represent West Yorkshire at the area competition in September.”
