Tigers' chief executive Richard Wright has announced the Super League club has completed a detailed design brief for the 13,000-capacity
facility in Glass Houghton and will finalise the document during a meeting with Wakefield Council and develope
rs Waystone in the next few weeks.
He said: "It is important we get the facilities right first time and deliver a project fit for purpose and within the budget constraints.
"This is not only in regard to the Super League licence for 2012 but to aid the growth of the club so it can compete at the highest level and to produce a multi-use facility.
"The project is massively important to the local economy and community. It will create a significant number of jobs, attract people to the area and provide services to the community.
"Thebenefits are substantial and we have to deliver."
Last month a steering group – including developers, former club chiefs and passionate fans – was set up to work on the design brief.
Mr Wright said the next "key step" would be to appoint architects to draw detailed plans.
He said: "The design brief and schedule of facilities are important working documents that will now provide the basis upon which we can
go forward and ultimately build the stadium.
"While we have known for sometime the broad outline of what the new stadium will look like, together with its facilities, these documents
turn those ideas into a working concept."
Mr Wright, who is a member of the steering group, said discussions had started with a number of organisations who are keen to be involved with the stadium.
He added: "The significant investment in construction is only possible if the stadium is a seven day a week operation and the nature and
location of the project is ideal."
