OPERA starlet Daisy Tucker hopes to hit the high notes when she makes her solo performance debut in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The ten-year-old, of Glass Houghton, will tour Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Salford and Woking in the Opera North production after beating other young hopefuls to win the part of principal fairy Peaseblossom.
Her proud mum, Sara, 36, of King Street, said: "When she found out she'd got the part she started screaming – she was over the moon.

"Daisy's been in three other shows, but this is her first solo part. She's absolutely buzzing."
The Castleford Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary School pupil has begun a gruelling rehearsal schedule in preparation for opening night at Leeds Grand Theatre on May 3.
Sara said: "She's inspiring, I don't know how she does it. Sometimes she rehearses until 10pm, but she's still up and ready for school. Her teachers say it's not affecting her school-work.

"She has always enjoyed singing and started to have lessons a couple of years ago. She also goes to the Scarla stage school on Thursday evenings.
"She would really love to make it big on the stage. She's had walk-on parts in shows like Emmerdale and The Royal, but she absolutely loves opera – which I suppose is unusal for a ten-year-old. She's always singing around the house.
"Me, her dad George and her five-year-old brother William can't wait to see her in the show. We're so proud of her."
