CASTLEFORD rider Bethany Clayton and her pony Blue hope to gallop to victory after qualifying for the Horse of the Year show.
The 13-year-old, of Churwell Close, is a member of Badsworth Hunt Pony Club’s mounted games team which needs to raise £6,000 to take part in the competition.

The group – which also qualified for the show in 1998, 2003 and 2004 – is appealing for local businesses to sponsor the team at the event in Birmingham in October.

Anna Steel, team co-ordinator, said: “Going to the Horse of the Year show for the week is very expensive and the team need to raise £6,000 to be able to go.

“Mounted games is very fast and exciting and often compared to war on horseback with riders vaulting on and off their ponies at flat out gallop with tremendous agility and skill.”

To help, or for more information, contact Mrs Steel on 01977 513367 or 07714 245236.
