A close shave for Comic Relief!

Waiting for Video...

Cleaner Kath Roberts had a close shave to raise more than £400 for Comic Relief when she had all her hair cut off today.

Kath, 44, who works at Junction 32 at Glass Houghton bravely had her head shaved for Red Nose Day, while her colleague, security guard Andrew Turner had his chest waxed, to raise another £200.

Before she went for the chop, Kath said she wasn’t nervous, adding: “It’s for a good cause, and it’s only hair, it’ll grow back! I just hope I don’t have a funny shaped head!”

She was cheered on by colleagues and shoppers, and her shoulder-length locks are being donated to Little Princesses, which makes wigs for children affected by cancer.

See Thursday’s Express for a full round up of all the Comic Relief events in the area.
