BONFIRES and fireworks are set to light up the night skies across the district this weekend.

Castleford Tigers are hosting a bonfire bonanza on Friday November 4 at the Probiz Coliseum on Wheldon Road.

The bonfire kicks off at 7pm followed by a dazzling firework display at 8pm.

Star players will be in attendance alongside club mascot, JT, fairground attractions and food stalls.

Advance tickets priced £5 for adults and £3 for children can be purchased from the Tigers’ store in Castleford’s Carlton Lanes shopping centre.

Featherstone Rovers’ fireworks extravaganza will take place at the club’s Post Office Road ground, with a bonfire lighting at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7.15pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s.

There will be an event at Whitwood Golf Club on Saturday November 5, with a bar and food available. Non-members are welcome, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the firework display will start at 8pm.

There will also be an event at King’s Croft Hotel, Pontefract, on the same night. Admission is free and there will be a hog roast, buffet, children’s rides and firework display. There will be extra parking available until 11.30pm at Copley’s Farm.

There will also be Wakefield Council organised events in Wakefield and Hemsworth.

The Wakefield celebration will take place at Thornes Park in Wakefield on November 5 and feature the traditional lighting of the bonfire at 7pm and fireworks at 8pm. There will also be live bands and entertainment.

There will also be a bonfire on the same night at Hemsworth Water Park at Hoyle Mill Road, where there will be a radio roadshow from 6.30pm, a Guy Fawkes competition at 6.45pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks will start at 7.30pm. Car parking will be free.
