FEATHERSTONE councillor Roy Bickerton has been elected as the
town's mayor for the next year.
Coun Bickerton was elected as the Mayor of Featherstone – taking the
chains from current mayor David Herrington – at a meeting of Featherstone Town Council last week.

Fellow Featherstone district councillor Pauline Guy was also elected as
the deputy mayor of Featherstone, to replace current deputy Bob Martindale.
Both will take office at the end of May.

Coun Guy said: "I've been a district councillor in Featherstone for five
years and obviously I'm thrilled to be elected deputy mayor of the town.
"It was a bit of a surprise but I'm looking forward to the next year."
Coun Bickerton could not be reached for comment.
