A TWO-day crime blitz in Knottingley by the town's neighbourhood policing team has brought 18 arrests.
Officers swooped on addresses across the town last week and arrested 18 people for offences including drugs and theft from motor vehicles.
Eight warrants were executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act and a number of other warrants resulted in the collection of £4,000 in unpaid fines.
The operation was carried out by Pontefract and Knottingley NPT and was supported by the British Transport Police, Wakefield and District Housing, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), the DVLA, West Yorkshire Fire Service and the anti-social behaviour unit.
Untaxed vehicles were also targeted and three vehicles were seized.
The fire service carried out 93 home- fire risk assessments and handed out leaflets in a bid to reduce arson.
Insp Richard Sullivan, of the NPT, said: "This operation was a result of information received from the community.
"It is another example of local neighbourhood policing teams working with partners to tackle those issues that affect the quality of life of local people."
