ADVENTUROUS girl guides are launching a mammoth fundraising drive to pay for a cultural trip to Berlin.
Leaders and members of 4th Knottingley Guides will take on daring tasks in their Big 600 Challenge – various activities based around the number 600.

Louise Wadding, project organiser, said: “It’s 600 miles from here to Berlin and as our funds rise it will be a symbol of how far we have to travel.

“I’m swimming 600 lengths in 600 hours and another leader is walking the Three Peaks in that time.

“Berlin will be a fantastic cultural exchange for the girls.”

The Big 600 Challenge – which aims to raise £6,600 for the trip in July – starts with a car wash at Brotherton Parish Hall on Saturday April 19.

Eggborough Power Station has already donated £600 to the fund and the guides are appealing for more donors to come forward.

Louise, 27, added: “Two of our guides will also be sitting in baths of beans for 300 minutes – it should be a great day.”

To donate to the group’s Big 600 fund, telephone Louise Wadding on 01977 705691.
