KNOTTINGLEY mum Julie Tunningley is wheely looking forward to an epic 70-mile bike ride to raise cash for her local junior rugby league team.
Julie, 35, is planning to do 30 laps of Pontefract Racecourse to boost funds at Knottingley Rockware Juniors Rugby League Club, where her son Brandon, 13, plays.

She will set off from Knottingley RU Club on Saturday June 27 at 6am and cycle to the racecourse, and hopes she will complete her marathon challenge about 12 hours later, before returning to Knottingley rugby field Sleepy Valley.

Julie, of Maple Walk, said: "I originally thought of doing a walk to raise money for the club, but I had an operation on my knee ligaments last September and my doctor advised me cycling would be better.

"This is the first time I'll have done this sort of distance in one go, but I'm hoping to raise about £800 for the club."

Julie, who is a first aider at the club, will be supported on the day by parents and youngsters at the club.

She added: "Some of the children are going to come down on their bikes and do a few laps with me and some of the parents are going to cheer me on as well."

Julie has been busy raising sponsorship from family and friends, as well as the club supporters, but anyone who would like to sponsor her can contact her on 07972 894632.
