KNOTTINGLEY woman Lilian Moon – who is probably the town's oldest resident – has celebrated her 103rd birthday.
A tea party was held at Knottingley’s The Grove Nursing Home to mark Mrs Moon’s special day on Saturday, April 25.

Family and friends attended the gathering, along with staff at the nursing home.

Mrs Moon was born on Knottingley’s Aire Street and has lived and worked in the town all her life.

She worked as a cleaner at Ropewalk School before moving to work at Knottingley High School. She also worked at the former Bradley glassworks.

Her granddaughter, Lynne Darley, 56, is amazed at her grandmother’s longevity.

She said: “I think it’s marvellous, I hope I make it to her age.”

Lilian also has a son, Tom, two great granddaughters and one great great granddaughter, Lily Darley-Hodgson, who was four on April 23.
