A WOMAN had clumps of hair pulled out in a brutal attack as she sang karaoke in a Knottingley pub.
The 47-year-old, who does not want to be identified for fear of reprisals, has been left with bald patches on her head after the horrific attack at The Bay Horse pub, on Hill Top.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at 6.30pm on Sunday May 3, when a female customer in the pub took offence to the 47-year-old’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s 1969 hit Suspicious Minds.

She was attacked twice in the pub and again outside and left with the injuries to her scalp and a deep gash on her elbow, which needed stitches.

The victim told the Express this week: “I was singing. This woman shouted that we were crap and rubbish. I looked over at the DJ, who just smiled. The whole idea of karaoke is people being rubbish.

“I was singing and then a couple of seconds later I was seeing stars. I didn’t see her run at me. I remember suddenly being leant over the DJ box and everyone was around me.

“The landlady said she had gone, but then I looked up and she was back. She surged at me and thumped me again. She was carried off me quickly though and we thought that was the end of it.

“Next thing I knew we went outside. She spun me round by my hair and I fell on the floor. I thought my elbow was broken. There was hair everywhere. I couldn’t believe how much hair there was.

“She was just a mindless thug. I would like any witnesses to come forward. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and I would hate to think anything like this would happen to anyone else. It’s not right to go about and do this to someone.

“In a way, you have to laugh. If you didn’t laugh you’d cry. We were in a pub the other day and my husband said: ‘My wife is going to get up and sing Suspicious Minds. If anyone wants to pull her hair, can they take it outside’. We have to have a laugh over it.”

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should contact Pontefract CID via 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
