I FELT I had to write about the attack on Jon Trickett by Gareth Yates (Letters, June 5).
I have been helped by Mr Trickett's staff on more than one occasion and it really annoys me when people question what the MP does.
I know a lot of people say "well where is he?" and then if the MP misses votes to be in the constituency he is criticised for not being in the House of Commons.
They just can't win.

Mr Yates shows a misunderstandng about what an MP does. It's up the our councillors to be getting investment into the area and dealing with the roads.
There is a role to play for the MP but I do think if the councillors put more time into solving problems that people have to deal with every day than putting on a big party and a "fly over" then we might be in a better place in Featherstone.
It woud be interesting to know how much time has been spent on the now delayed party compared to dealing with roads and the Girnhill estate.
