Junction needs railings

THE junction where Crewe Road meets Fryston Road at The Square, Airedale, is a tricky one at the best of times.
Approaching the junction from Crewe Road, drivers have to be aware of pedestrians crossing to and from the shops at many points along the road, then – at the junction itself – be aware of vehicles coming off the roundabout (often at speed) without indicating, or if they do, not cancelling them giving the impression they may be turning into the junction, sometimes only to continue up Fryston Road.

The biggest problem however, regarding this junction, are the inconsiderate, selfish, lazy drivers who feel it's ok to park close to the junction on the double yellow lines on Crewe Road, while they "nip to the shops".

These drivers create congestion at the junction and force pedestrians to merge from behind or in-between vehicles creating even more of a hazard and putting lives at risk.
I believe a simple solution to this problem would be to erect low railings close to the kerb, either side of Crewe Road, with a gap at the designated pedestrian crossing point where the kerb has been lowered. This would deter drivers from parking illegally and would direct pedestrians to cross the road at a safer place away from the junction.
