I AM collecting infomation and photos of Lemon Alley to write an article for Pontefract Family History Society on www.pontefractfhs.org.
I know where it was, running from Beastfair to Newgate, the entrance now enclosed into what is now the Subway sandwich shop. I have all the names of who lived in the alley throughout the census (1841-1901) found by searching in the library on their computer at Ancestry.com.

Pontefract Museum has been very helpful too with a Clearance Order list of names dated 1932 as well as a police report of a fight in the alley. I've found old street plans, aerial views etc on the website www.wakefieldmuseums.org so I am very grateful to Richard and Michael for their kind help.
Some of my ancestors (Finley/Reynolds, Stone, Ponsonby and Sykes) lived there so I've got an extra interest in this alley.
Can anyone help with making the place come back to life, with photos and memories? I will copy and let you have them back.
