I CANNOT believe the proposals being put forward about improvements to Monkhill station, particularly considering that it has still to be brought up to a standard where it complies with the Disability Discrimination Act. One heck of a choice to be Pontefract's premier railway station.
Considering the state of the access road I'm wondering where the people who devised it parked their guide dogs? Plus the fact that the access road also has a non-existent view to the left at its junction with North Baileygate. Crashes waiting to happ

Putting vehicular access to the new housing development will be inflicting hosts of "rat-runners" upon the residents as the idiots use it as a short cut instead of Mill Dam Lane. Simple facts like it being longer don't get through to such people.
Tanshelf station is already more disabled friendly. Has a good exit for motorised users and bus services passing by. No contest is it?

The best use for the existing bridge over Monkhill Lane is to provide the development with safe access to Monkhill station for pedestrians and cyclists. Add a ramp down to Black Walk and St Giles' School is also safely accessible for children and mums with prams etc.

At least most of the time at peak period the forecourt is well-filled with pick-up cars, pedestrians and taxis. Right now it's reasonably safe, given goodwill all around. Add in several through journeys and you're looking at trouble.
