THE car parks at Pontefract General Infirmary, Pinderfields and Clayton hospitals are woefully inadequate for outpatients especially, as well as for visitors to the wards.
Outpatients risk fines for overstaying should the medicals overrun their time schedules. Waiting times are well known to drag on, sometimes over an hour. But first find a space - if you can.
At PGI parking on the adjoining hillside housing estate is congested for over half a mile. Its residents are very upset and are putting wheelie bins on the roadside to deter motorists.

These people have no right to make these obstructions. Providing there are no double lines or drive entrances to block, and enough room allowed for passing traffic, motorists have a fully legal right to park on the road – that is why motorists pay road tax.
But come on PGI, the need for more and better parking facilities is absolutely essential as the hospital grows larger and our population increases.
