WE thank all those who tried to keep the Pontefract Road post office open.
These include the members of CAVE (Castleford Area Voice for the Elderly) and the Castleford Community Partnership as well as those who distributed and signed the petition, including the residents of Springfield and of Parklands and the traders in the indoor market. We also thank the members of the Castleford Civic Trust who gave their support.

While the actions of the community, including Yvette Cooper MP and local councillors of all parties, showed that the Hardwick Road Post Office did not fit the criteria for closure, unfortunately a similar case for the Castleford one was not accepted by the Post Office, despite our best efforts.
