IN reply to Coun Denise Jeffery ("Committed to district", Letters, May 15), Coun Jeffery will find it difficult to brighten up the district as Wakefield council will no longer be planting bedding plants due to budget cuts.
As for keeping our streets clean, the Sunday service for street sweeping of the shop areas in Knottingley has been withdrawn due to budget cuts.
Rats have been seen regularly on Racca Green, pizza and fish and chips are on the menu – they're eating better than we are.


In my opinion street cleaning is a priority service, it's what we pay our rates for. WMDC has lots of money, it's just spent on the wrong things – Wakefield waterfront, the Hepworth Gallery, need I go on?
Depressing greyness is one way of describing Knottingley, I can think of others that would be unprintable in this publication.
