Road scheme ridiculous

IN response to the comments of the Hightown Resident regarding the pavement alterations from Rhodes Street to Hightown Church (Letters, March 13), the widening of the pavement has considerably narrowed a very busy road which in the near future is going to have to cope with yet more traffic from the numerous housing developments off Lumley Street.
The road narrows considerably by the Indian takeaway which is made worse by parked cars on the opposite side of the road. And now the extra width of pavement is being used to actually park cars on.
Yes, I agree, yet another waste of council tax payers' money.
