I, Steve Kidd, will be standing as an Independent candidate for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford in the next general election.
My ambitions are:

Tell my kids "I tried".

Get back my deposit.

By polling enough of the vote to send the message to "New Labour" that there is an intelligent and concerned electorate who are asking for societal benefit to take precedence ove
r lies designed to maintain power.

Winning.

I imagined the last ambition was remote until I polled people at random throughout the constituency – 39 per cent of whom said they would vote for me immediately, 20 per cent probably/perhaps and 27 per cent undecided.

Of course I would always support issues for general welfare, but there are two specific topics I would attempt to deal with, one local, one national:

Review and remodel Town End Traffic lights in Pontefract.

Restructuring of vehicle excise duty (road tax) by removing the annual one-off payment and placing that cost on to petrol.

I do have a website (see below) where more details can be found. I will try to make myself available to speak and discuss as much as possible.

I will promise on everything I hold sacred that, as a politician, I will not intentionally lie or mislead to further the interests of any individual or group when the result would be an obvious net disbenefit to society.
