I WONDER if any readers have noticed how us non-smokers have been made to suffer since the smoking ban came into effect?
Twice recently it has been brought home to me that the situation has not improved. My husband had an appointment at the Lung Function Department at PGI and to get to the ward had to walk through a wall of smoke being created by various people stood in front of many "no smoking" signs and totally ignoring the same.

Then I went to Castleford to visit the market stalls in Carlton Street and was, in effect, "smoked out". There seemed to be a cloud of smoke hanging over Carlton Street and most of the seats were occupied by groups of smokers – so as a non-smoker I am not able to take advantage of the facilities offered by the council because I do not want to fill my lungs with second-hand smoke.
Isn't it about time we banned smoking everywhere except in people's own homes.
