AS soon as "arts" are mentioned, the word "philistines" gets used.
Pity the poor Sea Peoples, called Philistines in the Bible.
They've had the misfortune of being passed to posterity by their enemies, although some of them had a worse misfortune – they lost a sea battle to the ancient Egyptians.

Rameses II claimed a great victory over them.Of course, Rameses had a habit of having other Pharoah's names obliterated and his substituted. So credit stealing isn't new by any means.

Castleford has some great art. That beautiful stone bridge over the river is one item, as is the roundabout's sculpture near Asda.

If we could get the money to get the old rail lines to Allerton Bywater and Methley opened as cycle tracks there could be more.

Sustrans who own these lines like to install artworks every mile. That could be three or four new artworks open to the public in or near the town.
