WARTIME fashion and entertainment took townsfolk back in time at Castleford's second 1940s extravaganza.
Throngs of enthusiasts filled the town centre to enjoy jive dancing, vintage vehicle displays and rifle firing despite the damp weather on Saturday.
Makeovers gave townsfolk 1940s wartime glamour while other activities included performances from the George Formby Society, drill sessions and grenade throwing.

The spectacular event was held as part of Castleford's annual heritage festival, which takes place through July.
Alison Drake, chairman of Castleford Heritage Trust, said: "Lots of people turned out and the festival was bigger and better than last year – it was just a shame about the rain.

"When the sun shone there was a real party atmosphere and people were dancing with their umbrellas."
The 40s festival was organised by the trust, Wakefield Council, Carlton Lanes shopping centre and the Castleford Town Centre Partnership.
