CASTLEFORD Tigers welcomed students from the Tanzanian Filbert Bayi College – set up by the former Olympic medallist.
The 20 teenagers were given a tour of The Jungle and met the club’s head coach Terry Matterson and his assistant Andy Hay during an exchange visit with Barlby High School in Selby last Wednesday.

Steve Field, school sports co-ordinator, said: “Our Tanzanian friends jumped at the chance to come along to the home of the Tigers and were really interested with the history and character of the ground.

“They could not believe the quality of the playing surface, they have never seen a pitch so well kept. We would like to thank the Tigers for accommodating us, and the boys and girls from Tanzania are looking forward to coming back in a couple of years and visiting the new stadium.”
