GREEN-fingered members of Pontefract Lioness Club have dug deep to support the Pontefract in Bloom competition.
Club members have sponsored a hanging basket and replanted two former drinking troughs in the town centre in preparation for the competition’s judging tomorrow. The women will also be litter picking in Pontefract Park today.

Lioness president Jeanne Morgan said: “Julian Ellis from Wakefield Council’s urban centres management team came to one of our meetings and explained that the competition isn’t just about floral displays but also takes into consideration landscaping, environmental quality, public awareness and sustainable development.”
