SOUVENIRS of Castleford bridge can now be bought after a former car mechanic embarked on a new career path.
Craig Russell, 37, of Queen's Park Drive, Airedale, decided to turn his photography hobby into a business after a heart attack left him unable to do his job.

Inspired by the town's new bridge, Mr Russell snapped various pictures which will be on show in Castleford throughout October as well as keyrings, coasters, calendars and postcards.

The father-of-three said: "I had a heart attack two years ago and was told by my consultant that I could no longer be a car mechanic, because I couldn't lift anything heavy, and I would have to retrain to do something else.

"I first started photography in 1996 but it was always a hobby. But now I want to try and make it into a career.

"I like the way the bridge looks – at night, especially – so I just took a lot of pictures and made some into souvenirs."

Mr Russell's creations will be on display at the Five Towns Resource Centre on Welbeck Street, Castleford, this month.

Prints of photographs cost from £4, keyrings cost from £1.50, coasters £2.50 and postcards £1.
