A BLOOMING display of flowers and art brightened up a church as part of Castleford's Heritage Festival.
All Saints’ Church hosted the exhibition – put together by hard-working members of Castleford Flower Club and dozens of local artists – last week.

Posies and bouquets depicted bridges from all over the world to celebrate the opening of Castleford’s new £4.8m footbridge and the 200th anniversary of its road bridge over the River Aire.

Alison Drake, chairman of Castleford Heritage Trust, said: “We’re thrilled with their creative display complemented by wondeful paintings and sketches of bridges. Our heritage festival this year is all about celebrating the bridges and it’s been a big week for us.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has taken part.”

Proceeds raised from the festival, opened by fomer councillor Winifred McLoughlin and including a children’s concert, will go to All Saints’ Church.
