CENTENARIAN Evelyn Ketchell had her daily meal-on-wheels delivered by Mayor of Wakefield Jacqui Williams to mark a national campaign.
100-year-old Mrs Ketchell, of Gemini Court, Pontefract, was presented with a bouquet of flowers as well as a hot dinner by Coun Williams to mark national Meals of Wheels Week.
Carol Foster, project manager at WRVS, the district's meals-on-wheels service, said: "Mrs Ketchell has had our meals for a number of years and we thought she would enjoy the special delivery.
"Our volunteers deliver more than just a nutritious dinner, every meal means regular human contact for someone who may not otherwise see anyone during the day or week.
"This contact often becomes a lifeline for older people who are isolated and frail.
"Our volunteers are trained to check that the people they visit are safe and well to alert social services of any concerns."
Meals on Wheels Week is organised by the National Association of Care Caterers to thank volunteers with the service.
Anyone interested in volunteering with WRVS can call Carol Foster on 01977 696840.
