A NEW inspector has stepped in to take charge of the Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing team.
Insp Richard Sullivan is now heading the team, which is based at Castleford police station and covers south and north Pontefract, Knottingley and Ferrybridge.

His role involves attempting to resolve local problems and developing contacts and partnerships with the comunity.

He said: “I am looking forward to dealing with grass roots issues which are of concern to local people.

“By working hand in hand with local communities, I hope that we can not only provide a service to them, but that we are also a respected and integral part of the community too.”

Insp Sullivan has been with the force for 21 years, working mainly in the Leeds area before he came to Wakefield in September last year.
