SCHOOLCHILDREN across Castleford will be increasing their vocabulary with sparkling new dictionaries thanks to the Rotary Club.
Castleford Rotary Club has provided children at every Castleford school with a new illustrated dictionary to mark the transition from infants to juniors.

Rotarian Alan Drewitt said: “We had been discussing ways in which we could assist children in our home town. Over the years, we have been involved in lots of projects, many targeted particularly at individual children. This year it was our aim to involve as many children as possible.”

Year two children at Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary School, on Ashton Road, were some of the recipients.

Headteacher Nigel Hazell said: “The dictionaries were presented to the children in a special assembly at the end of last term. They were delighted with them and immediately engrossed.”
