MORE than 300 runners from across the region joined Pontefract Prince of Wales Hospice's second 10k road race on Sunday.
Runners tackled the challenging six-mile circular route through Pontefract and North Featherstone, clocking up cash for the Halfpenny Lane care centre at the same time.
Nikki Hinman, hospice fundraising manager, said: "We were overwhelmed with the response we received, with the number of people taking part doubling from last year.

"Thanks to the runners, volunteers and business that supported the event. We look forward to repeating the 10k next year and hope to increase the numbers again."
Race winner was Christopher Price of Wakefield Harriers in a time of 33 minutes and 25 seconds. Second was Martin Sanders of Ackworth Road Runners in 34:16 and third place went to David Thompson of Barnsley Athletics in 34:31.

First woman was Faye Banks of Ackworth Road Runners in 38:11 with Kaeti MacKenzie of Barnsley Athletics second in 39:46 and Karen Ball of Ackworth Road Runners third in 40:40.
Veteran prizes went to Andrew Masterman, Richard Butterfield, Stephen Brook, Jacqui Dews, Bev Sutton and Janet Davis.
