CHARITY fun runners are under starter's orders and limbering up for the next Darrington Fun Run in June.
Runners and walkers are being invited to take part in the event on June 21 to raise much needed cash for the Martin House Hospice for children.
Now in its 11th year, the fun run is hoping to attract more fundraisers this year after a wet summer dampened numbers, and organisers are now encouraging people to don their fancy dress costumes to add even more colour to the proceedings.
Organiser Richard Beaumont, 43, of Estcourt Road, Darrington, nominated the charity because of the vital work and support it offers people.
He said: “It’s a fun run for anyone of any ability and it’s a great family day out.
“There’s first aid on site and back-up cars if anyone feels a bit unwell. So why not lose a few pounds and raise a few more for charity?”
The fun run, sponsored by Fitness First, starts at noon and is open to ages 12 and above and stretches five miles on quiet country roads and lanes. The annual feast and fair begins after the race for the rest of the day.
Entry forms are available from Fitness First, the Darrington Hotel or by logging on to www.darrington.org.uk.
