TOWNSFOLK crossed Castleford's River Aire footbridge to tell councillors about their problems in a special outdoor surgery.
Castleford councillors Mark Burns-Williamson, Tony Wallis and Denise Jeffery hosted the session on the £4.8m curved bridge – the landmark scheme in regeneration programme The Castleford Project – on Friday afternoon.
Coun Burns-Williamson said more joint surgeries around the town would take place.

He added: "On Friday Lock Lane residents spoke to us as they used the bridge and others came down wanting help with problems such as litter or housing. It's important for councillors to have a fixed surgery every week but we also want to get out around town and thought there was nowhere better than the bridge to meet.

"In the winter it's probably best we stay indoors but we will look to have meetings around Castleford every month or so. We need to make sure we work with as many people as possible – we will also be producing a survey for thousands of people in the next few weeks."
