The king of stubbing out smokes

ELVIS wannabe David Smith has succeeded in stubbing out his burning love for cigarettes after 20 years.
The dad-of-two – who made the now or never decision to quit in July – has been smoke free for eight weeks thanks to help and support from NHS Wakefield District's Stop Smoking Service.
David, 42, of Lumley Avenue, Whitwood, said: "Quitting was always on my mind, but like many I was caught in a trap of addiction. My wife, Julie, stopped smoking and I wanted to support her so I decided to quit myself.
"I used to smoke between 20 and 25 roll-ups a day and since stopping I feel so much healthier. My voice is much stronger and I have recently won the Best Yorkshire Elvis Tribute Artist contest. I now realise that smoking really is the devil in disguise."
David – who performs under the stage name Daniel Craig – joined a stop smoking group at Pontefract Health Centre, which offers free support.
He said: "Each session, members of the group have to blow into a carbon monoxide monitor. That is a real incentive not to smoke. As you smoke less the levels of carbon monoxide in your blood goes down. I would recommend anyone thinking of giving up smoking to get in touch with their local Stop Smoking Service. That extra support it very important."
Val Bradshaw, group leader, said: "David has done absolutely brilliantly. We've had a lot of fun helping him to stop smoking. We've also seen him perform in our local pub. In our eyes he is definitely the king."
