Bike death crash driver named

A MAN killed in a motorbike accident near Sherburn has been named.
Peter Whiteley, 57, of Churchfield Lane, Glass Houghton, died when his motorbike lost control and hit a wall at Newthorpe on Sunday at 6.15pm.
Half an hour earlier, another biker, man in his 40s from Donacster, was killed on the same stretch of road after a collision with a Mercedes car.


Police said Mr Whiteley was in a group of three bikes, two of which were in the process of turning into a side road when the accident happened at 6.15pm on Sunday.
He was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield by air ambulance but died later.


Part of the B1222 had been closed due to the first incident, which happened at 5.45pm.
Police have appealed for witnesses to both collisions.
