Christmas lights to brighten up the district

SANTA will ride his sleigh through Featherstone as Christmas lights are switched on to brighten up the district.
Excited youngsters can also meet Father Christmas at his grotto in Featherstone Methodist Church on Wednesday November 25 before he takes a trip down Station Lane at 5.30pm.
The town's lights will be turned on by gala queen Lorna Speak and Mayor of
Featherstone Roy Bickerton at 6pm, with a funfair, singing and dancing also on offer at the precinct from 4pm.

Pontefract's lights are to be turned on at 6.30pm on Monday November 23 with local councillors and schoolchildren doing the honours.
Fairground rides and entertainment from pantomine characters, as well as Featherstone Rovers' stars and mascots, will be on offer on the night.

Castleford youngsters are to turn on the town's lights with Coun Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council's deputy leader, at 6.30pm on Tuesday November 24.
Choirs, pantomine characters, Castleford Tigers' players and the club's Paws and Claws cheerleading team will also keep the crowds entertained.

Christmas begins in Airedale on December 4, when Christmas lights are switched on with fun events, including a DJ, stalls, tombolas, children's activities and a visit from Santa, starting at 4pm and lasting until 7.30pm.

On December 8 Ferrybridge Community Centre is holding a Christmas lights switch-on with fun and games for all the family from 5pm at The Square.
