YOUNGSTERS will be taught how to assess risks and stay safe at special Danger Ranger training sessions.
More than 400 pupils from ten schools will visit Pontefract fire station to learn about road, railway, home and fire safety – as well as how to call 999 and what to do if they witness an abduction.
Fire crews, health visitors and British Transport Police are working with Wakefield Council to organise the event.
Coun Denise Jeffery, the council's deputy leader, said: "The event is the sixth of its kind in the district.

"We hope it will run every year with even more pupils becoming Danger Rangers and learning how to keep safe."
Year five students from Pontefract's Holy Family and St Michael's Catholic Primary, Cobblers Lane Primary, Willow Park Junior, Halfpenny Lane Junior and Infant, St Giles' Junior and Infant and Darrington CE Junior and Infant Schools will take part in the event that will be launched by Wakefield's Mayor, Coun Allan Garbutt on April 7.
