Former Cas player dies

FORMER Castleford Rugby League player Colin Butterfield died on Thursday.
Mr Butterfield, aged 70, was a long serving director at Hicksons chemical factory before his retirement, and also Chairman of the Castleford Tigers Players' Association.

A classy centre who made 47 appearances, scoring 12 tries he joined the club from rugby union in the 1950's.

Mr Butterfield was well known throughout the town and was Chairman of the opencast action group RAGE in his home village of Ledston.

He had been bravely fighting cancer and is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

His funeral will be at All Saints church, Ledsham on Thursday at 11.30am.
