DRUMMER Richard Priestley is hoping to hit the big time after his band were signed to play at the country's biggest music festival – Glastonbury – next summer.
The 28-year-old, of Wentbridge, is on the path to chart success as part of rock trio The Stella Frays, which has a distribution deal with Universal Records and performed a showreel for music moguls in London this week.
Richard is no stranger to the fame game as in 2006 he supported US rock legends Bon Jovi and Nickleback with his previous band Spin after winning a radio competition.
He said: “We had a brilliant time performing for 65,000 people with Bon Jovi but the band just didn’t make it to a record deal as we thought it would.
“I joined The Stella Frays about two months ago and we are doing really well, it’s exciting.
“Our record is selling in WH Smith and online, we’re just searching for a firm to back us with a promotion.
“The drummer of The Charlatans is really into us and we’re going to play Glastonbury so I’ve got a great feeling about what we are doing.
“I’ve been a drummer since I was eight so it has always been part of my life.”
The Stella Frays are playing at Wakefield’s Escobar on Monday November 30 from 8pm.
