TIME is running out for victims of last summer's floods to apply for cash grants to help them cope with the aftermath.
Extreme rainfall deluged the district, ruining homes, closing roads and shutting schools, in June 2007.

The deadline for applications to the Community Foundation for Wakefield – which allocates grants on behalf of Wakefield Council and the British Red Cross – is on Friday September 12.

MP Jon Trickett – whose Hemsworth constituency covers Featherstone – said: “Thousands of pounds has been made available to help flood victims but it is believed more people are still eligible for help.”

To qualify for the grant, residents must be experiencing continuing hardship or bearing the brunt of extra house repair costs because of flood damage.

For more details call the foundation on 01924 306758 or visit www.communityfoundationwakefield.co.uk.
