Police appeal after fatal car crash in Castleford

A 59-YEAR-OLD man from Thorpe Audlin died following a car crash in Castleford on Friday February 5.
A white Vauxhall Vivaro van collided with the central island and a traffic sign on California Drive, on the approach to the Normanton roundabout and the junction with the M62.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Friday.

The driver of the van was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield where he was pronounced dead on Saturday February 6.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, including a lorry believed to have been driving behind the van at the time of the collision, to contact the major collision inquiry team on 01924 293047.
