PLANNERS have approved a £25,000 traffic calming scheme for Halfpenny Lane in Pontefract.
Speed slashing measures will be put in place to stop drivers "rat-running" on the road to avoid traffic queues after being agreed at Wakefield Council's planning and highways committee on Thursday.

The amended plans – previously deferred for extra consultation – aim to reduce accidents and improve road safety after council statistics showed seven injury accidents, two involving children, have been reported on Halfpenny Lane in the past five years.
