STUDENTS at a Pontefract school left on a high after their annual gala proved a summer success.
The Ambassadors of Carleton Community High School organised the British-themed fair on the village green which raised more than £1,100 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The community fundraiser – led by retiring head boy and girl, Matthew Price and Harriet Dee – saw students run stalls and take part in a mini Olympics, a community zumba dance, a handprint Union flag, and a balloon release.
Matthew said: “This is by far the biggest challenge we have had and it has been a great learning curve for us all. We would like to thank local businesses for their support in donating raffle and tombola prizes.”
The group has a history of fundraising including raising cash for Children in Need and Prince of Wales Hospice.
