LOCAL talent will join international superstars Razorlight at Pontefract’s premier music event this spring.

Fifteen bands and artists from across the region will join the critically-acclaimed four-piece – whose hits include Golden Touch and America – on the Crooked Ways bill, including Featherstone rockers Road to Horizon and Pontefract’s psychedelic five-piece, Jack’s Attic.

Singers and songwriters will also be joined by pop, punk and electro artists on the Crooked Ways Presents stage at the one day festival at Pontefract Park on May 26.

Scott Ward, marketing director for the festival, said: “One of our aims when setting up the event was to create opportunities for local bands to showcase their talent to a new audience.

“By creating a stage devoted solely to local artists we want to encourage all visitors to stop by the Presents stage and check out some of the great and original artists we have in the area.”

Festival-goers can choose which new band they want to see open the show on the main stage by mentioning their favourite artist’s name on the ticketing system under “Where did you hear about Crooked Ways?”

Closing date for nominations is March 12 and the winning artist will be announced on Crooked Ways’ Facebook page on March 15. Visit www.crookedways.co.uk for a full list of artists.
